When analysis leads to paralysis
In order to feel put together and balanced, especially early mornings, I like to dress my part. In general, my outfits tend to be creative and visually appealing. With life being very busy and a 4 year old running around the house, things can get very hectic as I am sure many of you can relate.
Several years ago, I went through a phase where I found it incredibly stressful to get dressed in the mornings. I had lost my spark for creativity for a while, which can happen and that's ok. However as time went by, I was noticing my jeans, t-shirts and sneakers had become my best of friends. Almost like the cookie in the kitchen cabinet, knowing it is there and easy to reach for to heal the cravings. I was unable to create outfits, period.
At that time, creating a new outfit became a time consuming chore. Each and every wardrobe staple I had combined already, and couldn't think of what to create next. Buying more clothes certainly was an option but wanted to keep an overview of the things I had already owned. The scattered thought of what will I wear next paralyzed my creativity.
Have you ever felt like; "what will I wear tomorrow?", because you are unable to come up with new outfit combinations.
Then, I had a clever idea about getting one of these figures that can be dressed up. I am lucky enough to have a Pier One Imports near my home, so I went to buy her. I named her Lady Dior. Since Lady Dior started living in my closet, I started to create outfits more quickly and efficiently than ever before.
How my Lady Dior Mannequin has helped me become more efficient with my outfit creations.
- ability to create outfits quickly and efficiently
- wonderful for visually creating layered outfits with ease
- reduces unhappiness and stress by being able to disassociate from the body and see the clothes on another frame than your own
- sparks creativity and imagination
- displays jewelry and clothing beautifully
- dressing her the night before with the next day outfit helps with time management
I found this beauty at Pier One Imports. I named her Lady Dior. |
Perfect for displaying jewelry |
Her home is my closet... |
A Mannequin is a convenient helper for creating quick and visual outfits in the morning. |
This method of getting dressed is less stressful as I do not have to focus on my body but rather the mannequins frame. (Really helpful on the days when women don't feel so good about their bodies.) |
She helps me stay organized and hassle free before leaving the house in the morning. |

DeleteI bet this is a more elegant way than just throwing everything I plan to wear on a chair in the living room. But I just cant be bothered to pick an outfit in the mornings, it is way to early to think properly.

DeleteWhat a clever idea. I have two such mannequins in my hone. The one is actually all dressed up in her own glamorous outfit so she is more for decoration but I could certainly see trying this with the other one which contains my necklaces and rings. I pick up such useful tips from reading my fellow bloggers post. Love this idea!
